Storm Ophelia: Advice on Household Claims:

  • Immediate urgent repairs are in order to mitigate the storm damage. However, you should photograph this damage before beginning the works.
    • Where there has been minor damage to your property (i.e. where your Contractor estimates that the total cost will not exceed €2,500), you may arrange for the damage to be repaired. However, we would ask you to:
    • Notify the damage to with your policy number, and contact information. We will register the claim and contact you with your claim number and dedicated handler name.
    • Ensure you photograph the damage and retain all invoices.
    • Once your work is complete, email your photographs and all invoices to your handler to enable us to review your claim.
  • If your Contractor estimates that the total cost of the repairs will exceed €2,500 please immediately contact us on 1890 208 408 or where we will assist you further. We may arrange for our representative to visit your home to inspect the damage. If any of your possessions have been damaged, you can remove them from your home but please retain them for inspection.

Please include your policy and phone number if possible when emailing Zurich about a claim.

What Happens Next

  • We will take some details of your claim and appoint any necessary specialists immediately.
  • We will also appoint a member of our Claims Team to handle your claim and forward you their contact information.
  • We will send you an Accident/Incident Report Form by post within a maximum of 24 hours.
  • It is important that you sign and complete this so that we may proceed with your claim as quickly as possible.
